The scope of works included the complete remodelling and refurbishment of the existing school.delivery of a £4.5m extension and refurbishment project at Hunslet Moor Primary School.

Solution

Adept worked with ISG via the YORbuild2 framework to deliver a new two-storey steel frame extension.  The extension links into the existing school and provide six classrooms, a staffroom, a hall extension and ancillary accommodation. The existing school was also refurbished, receiving an extensively remodelled interior, an extended kitchen facility, and landscape works.  The work was carried out within a ‘live’ school environment – access to the existing building and working space restrictions required careful consideration. Timings of work were critical to the programme with strategic works being undertook in school holidays and after school. The Adept new steelwork solution was required to remove load bearing walls to create new server for the kitchen. The installation of new folding partition walls created new space for multiple use. We encountered challenging ground conditions due to the relic foundations.
