Project Brief
Designing and construction of a 813.61 sq m single-storey portal frame extension to house additional data centre equipment to meet increased demand. Currently in the design phase, construction is scheduled for summer 2025. Adept has been commissioned to design the substructure and superstructure, ensuring seamless integration with the existing building and providing solutions for drainage and external finishes.
Solution
Our approach involves a comprehensive design strategy that seamlessly integrates the new extension with the existing infrastructure. The substructure and superstructure are carefully engineered to avoid conflicts with existing services, minimising disruption and ensuring long-term stability. The portal frame design provides the necessary space for the additional data systems while maintaining flexibility for future expansions.
We are also overseeing modifications to the drainage systems to meet the increased capacity. This includes evaluating and upgrading the drainage network to manage the additional water load and prevent potential issues with run-off or waterlogging.
We are also making the necessary adjustments to the external finishes, ensuring that the extension aligns aesthetically with the current facility while meeting the practical needs of the project.
Our team is working closely the client, wider design team and third party contractors to contribute to the smooth-running of the construction process. Our early identification of potential risks seeks to address any potential challenges related to site access, service integration and environmental factors, ensuring that the final build is both functional and sustainable.
