Project Brief

Fit-out of a first-floor cell, equivalent to a quarter of the building’s footprint, to meet strict uptime and operational continuity standards for reliable data centre operations. The project required extensive structural and civil design work, working closely across the design team and with the M&E providers to facilitate installation of essential infrastructure, equipment support and cooling systems.

Solution

We designed the concrete foundations, floor reinforcements, structural slabs and steelworks requiring precise calculations to ensure the building could handle the heavy loads, particularly in the plant room.

We designed a comprehensive drainage solution, including compound drainage systems, bunding and trench designs for spill containment, particularly for nitrogen. Our solution also involved strengthening existing connections and reinforcing the steel frame to ensure the building’s structural integrity.

To regulate temperature and control noise levels, we introduced insulation features, including white wall designs. Further enhancements included the installation of raised access floors for efficient cable management and the incorporation of elevation designs to allow easy access to critical areas. Our solutions were based on knowledge and experience of working on similar critical 24/7 facilities where resilience is a key requirement.
