Apprenticeship Week
Back to News10/02/26
At Adept, we are incredibly proud of our commitment to nurturing the next generation of engineers. This National Apprenticeship Week, we celebrate the achievements of the 18 apprentices we’ve supported since we were formed in 2007, and the immense value they bring to the engineering sector.
Our apprenticeship programme provides a clear career pathway, from gaining graduate to chartered engineer status and moving up to senior roles. We support their study and membership fees so they can focus on their development, without having to worry about the financial hurdles.
As well as engineering undergraduates, in 2024 we engaged our first T level students, in addition to a full programme of students joining us for summer placements and shorter-term work experience opportunities.
As part of our commitment to diversity, we are proud that three of our eight apprentices are female, representing 37.5% of our apprentice cohort, almost double the industry average of 19.3% female representation in the engineering workforce.
Many of our senior engineers who joined us as apprentices have since moved up to principal and associate positions and are now, in turn, supporting younger talent in their development.
We take our responsibility as an employer seriously, and our connection to education is key. Adept regularly collaborates with schools, colleges and universities, engaging in careers fairs, often leading to a work experience placement with Adept.
Here’s what Trainee Structural Engineer, Hollie Wilson, has to say after the first few months of her work experience with us:
“Since joining Adept I’ve been offered so many opportunities on a variety of projects. It’s been great to take the technical knowledge I gained at university and start to apply it to a range of scenarios. I’m grateful to be learning in a practical way and my motivation to improve and start a career in the industry has increased massively. Everyone has been so approachable and keen to help me develop, it’s exactly the experience I was looking for to progress my knowledge and skillset.”
Join us in celebrating National Apprenticeship Week and discover how an apprenticeship at Adept can kickstart your career in engineering.
