Adept Consulting Engineers Ltd is pleased to announce its appointment on the Major and Minor Works Structural & Civil Engineering Consultancy frameworks with The University of Sheffield.
Adept were one of three successful bidders appointed to the major works, and one of two to the minor work frameworks. Bidders underwent a rigorous two-stage process which took into account price and various quality criteria including capability, experience, social value, health & safety, and sustainability. The frameworks run for an initial four years, with the option to be extended up to a maximum of eight years. The University’s estate covers around 300 properties over 7 million sq ft, the majority of which is located in Sheffield city centre but with some remote sites.
Commenting on the award, Adept Managing Director and University of Sheffield alumnus, Erol Erturan, said: “We’re delighted to be working with the University and look forward to the opportunity to contribute our expertise and innovation in civil and structural engineering to support the University’s development plans for their estate.
“We will also continue to support the University with mentoring and have committed to providing two six-week placements and two year-in-industry placements each year to students from the University’s Engineering faculty, alongside our wider support for local schools and colleges in the region, giving students an opportunity for hands-on learning under the tutorship of Adept’s experienced engineers. We will also support the University with their social value objectives.”
Since the civil and structural engineering consultancy was formed in 2007, Adept has worked with a number of Yorkshire further and higher education institutions including the University of Leeds, Leeds Beckett University, Leeds Mathematics School, York College and Askham Bryan College, most recently delivering engineering services for the £27m redevelopment of Phase 1 of the Mabgate campus for Leeds City College.
Over its 18-year history, Adept has provided civil and structural engineering design services to clients in Education, Healthcare, Leisure, Residential, Retail, and Industrial & Logistics, and has been involved in numerous refurbishment and regeneration schemes throughout the region including assisting on Phase 2 of the redevelopment of Barnsley’s market square into the award-winning £180m Glass Works retail and leisure venue.
Newly appointed Regional Director, Jonathan Trickett, will be working closely with the University from Adept’s Sheffield base. To support further planned growth in the wider South Yorkshire region, Adept is currently recruiting for Senior/Principal Civils and Structural Engineers and Senior Revit Technicians.
