At Adept, we are incredibly proud of our commitment to nurturing the next generation of engineers. This National Apprenticeship Week, we celebrate the achievements of the 18 apprentices we’ve supported since we were formed in 2007, and the immense value they bring to the engineering sector.

Our apprenticeship programme provides a clear career pathway, from gaining graduate to chartered engineer status and moving up to senior roles. We support their study and membership fees so they can focus on their development, without having to worry about the financial hurdles.

As well as engineering undergraduates, from last year we also engaged our first T level students, in addition to a full programme of students joining us for summer placements and shorter-term work experience opportunities.
As part of our commitment to diversity, we are proud that three of our eight apprentices are female, contributing to a more inclusive and varied workforce.

Our apprentices don’t just stay with us – they grow with us! Many of our senior engineers who joined us as apprentices have since moved up to principal and associate positions and are now, in turn, supporting younger talent in their development.

We take our responsibility as an employer seriously, and our connection to education is key. Adept regularly collaborates with schools, colleges and universities, engaging in careers fairs, often leading to a work experience placement with Adept. Recently, we attended the Oasis Academy Lister Park Careers Fair and the Civil Engineering: Making Connections Event at the University of Leeds.

Here’s what Trainee Civil Engineer, Dziugas Klinga, has to say after the first few months of his year-long work experience with us:

“From the very start of my placement, I felt really welcome and found it easy to settle in because there was a lot of help and support available. During my time at Adept, I have had the opportunity to develop my existing skills and knowledge and learn new ones. I have also learned a lot about how the industry operates, preparing me for life after university.”

Join us in celebrating National Apprenticeship Week, and discover how an apprenticeship at Adept can kickstart your career in engineering.
