Adept’s Growing Healthcare Portfolio

We were delighted to provide structural design services for the £3.3m, fast-track creation of a dedicated Covid-19 treatment ward at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for IHP. This expedited 3-month refurbishment programme was extremely challenging but successfully delivered. To help support the contractor remotely, the team committed to a daily, early morning MS Teams meeting to ensure the project ran smoothly throughout the short works. The client felt that our dedicated structural engineer Tristram Hope’s input on the project was “invaluable”, and as a direct result we are collaborating with IHP again on the creation of a new car park at the same hospital.

Continuing our relationship with QAD Architects and MAC Construction Consultants, we are currently working on a proposed new build Aspull Health and Wellbeing Centre in Wigan for a new client, OneMedical Group. This highly sustainable, focal point building will provide flexible healthcare facilities for the local community. It is due to start on site this autumn.

Our successful performance at design stage on Aspull has led to OneMedical Group appointing us for two further multimillion pound schemes. A planning submission is imminent for a two-storey new build medical centre in Hedingham, whilst planning has been submitted for a façade retention scheme with a three-storey new build behind in Ealing.

Since January this year we have been working with Bridger Carr Architects and Tilbury Douglas at Bradford Royal Infirmary, as part of a wider site upgrade of facilities that is now nearing completion. Deborah Carr, Director at Bridger Carr, said:

We are also currently in the early stages of a £3.5m upgrade of facilities and equipment to theatres at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.
