Cranswick 3D view of foundationsAdept have been appointed by Sewell to deliver engineering design for Cranswick Convenience Foods’ Dry Good Store Extension at their site in Barnsley. The requirement for the Extension arises from Cranswick’s continued growth and the need for additional storage space during peak times such as Christmas.

Josh Donnelly, Development Manager at Sewell said “In order to deliver a solution which achieved Cranswick’s programme and budget constraints, we adopted a single team approach, working closely with our supply chain and utilising their expertise to optimise the design to an affordable position”.

Adept’s Project Engineer Martin Langan said “After collaborating successfully on The Printworks campus for Leeds City College, Adept are thrilled be working with Sewell again on this 325m2 extension.

The portal steel frame design offered the best economical solution to complement the existing building. A piled foundation solution was required due to deep areas of made ground and suspended floor slabs were designed to support heavy loading to meet the operational needs of the facility”.
