Project Brief
Adept were asked to provide civil engineering design for the construction of 23 new dwellings on farm land off Sands Lane in Holme-On-Spalding-Moor.
Adept were appointed by Synergy Housing to work with contractors Strategic Team Group and architects Building Design Partnership.
Solution
Adept’s expertise in sustainable urban drainage systems (SUDS) enabled this director led project to be delivered on time and on budget.
Innovative design allowed the provision of enough medium between build levels and ground water levels which complimented the new SUDS system. The creation of new drainage systems were designed to connect to the nearest sewage system 400m away, providing minimally invasive and cost effective solutions for the client.
The sandy ground conditions had an extremely low bearing pressure. Piled solutions were the natural choice given these conditions, however Adept engineered a solution whereby very wide reinforced strip footings could be utilised and limit any potential settlement. This further enhanced Adept’s reputation for working together with the client to provide the most economical solution.
This project reinforced Adept’s commitment to the provision of sustainable housing and were pleased to be involved in another Level 3 Code for Sustainable Homes build. Adept strengthened their on-going relationship with Synergy Housing when consulting on this project.
