Project Brief

HTC architects have consecutively appointed Adept on behalf of Accrington Academy for the construction of three now completed projects with the fourth soon to commence.

Sympathetic engineering solutions were required to adapt to the needs of an academic environment during the construction. Total build costs are approximately £4.7 million for a class room and science block, pavilion, swimming pool and soon to be built extension.

Adept were appointed repeatedly due to their consistency in quality consultancy and responsive design within the academic environment. Each phase of the director led projects were completed on budget and on time.

Solution

Meeting the needs of Accrington Academy throughout each phase, Adept were able to provide propping solutions and construction sequencing during the class room and science block build to facilitate the schools ability to remain open during the build.

Forward thinking engineering expertise during the swimming pool construction took into account differential settlements within the pool as did solutions to counteract the corrosive connotations of the pool environment.

Extensive foundation design, despite proximity complications, was provided during the Pavilion build which bolstered Adept’s reputation for creative solutions which reduce disruption for clients.

Marshall Construction worked in conjunction with Adept throughout the Accrington Academy builds and they have gone on to collaborate on further projects together.

The appointment of Adept for every additional phase demonstrates the increasing reputation that Adept holds regarding expertise and design sensitivity surrounding effective academic construction. Details of Adept’s other education projects can be found here.
