Adept is helping to build over £54million worth of retirement living apartments across Yorkshire and the North East.

Our long-standing relationship with leading house builder McCarthy & Stone, has helped us to secure contracts to design the superstructures and foundations at 14 developments which will see almost 490 Retirement and Assisted Living apartments built over the next two years. The projects range in size from between 30 to 40 apartments.

Adept’s lead engineer, Paul Watchorn says: “We started working with McCarthy & Stone’s North East Division in 2008 and we are relishing this opportunity to work on so many projects across the North of England.

“At any one time we can have several projects in the detailed design stage once planning has been achieved, several on-site and several nearing completion, so we make sure we tailor our engineering services appropriately to help McCarthy & Stone stay on top of their timeframes and build projections.”

Three Retirement Living schemes that have recently completed include a project to build 39 one and two bedroom apartments at Barnes Wallis Court in Howden, East Yorkshire (pictured above), 41 apartments at Ryebeck Court in Pickering, North Yorkshire and a  further build has seen 33 new apartments created at Bewick Grange, Old Swan in Harrogate.

Graeme Kynman  from McCarthy & Stone says: “As one of the country’s biggest providers of retirement and assisted living homes – building two thirds of the country’s retirement housing stock every year – it’s essential that we can rely on a number of highly skilled contractors and service providers to help us deliver the first rate homes we are renowned for.

“Adept’s commitment to the latest technological advances and equipment combined with their knowledgeable and professional engineering team, which continually delivers on time and within budget, makes them the ideal partner for us.”
